Dental Crown and Bridges
Dental Crowns and Bridges
Cicero Family Dental Care is a state-of-the-art CEREC® dental crowns and bridges treatment facility. Using CEREC® equipment and treatment, Dr. Sayed and his professional team will get your dental crown in only one visit. With CEREC®, we promise no more conventional impressions, temporaries, or long waiting periods.
Crowns
Getting a crown restores your tooth to its original shape and size. This is done only when a tooth cannot be restored with fillings or any other type of restoration. There are many types of crown options, but porcelain is the most popular because it looks the most natural. Porcelain is very durable and will last many years. Crowns are colored and sized to look just like your teeth, giving you a natural, long-lasting, beautiful smile.
Reasons for Crowns:
- Broken or fractured teeth
- Cosmetic enhancement
- Decayed teeth
- Fractured fillings
- Large fillings
- A tooth with a root canal
Benefits of a CEREC® Crown:
- Done in one visit
- No impressions
- No temporaries
- Metal-free
- Highly aesthetic
- Long-lasting
Modern CAD/CAM technology makes it possible.
Bridges
A bridge is a permanent appliance that replaces missing teeth. There are several types of bridges, but the most popular is the traditional bridge made of porcelain because it looks the most like your natural teeth. The traditional bridge is made up of porcelain fused with metal and is anchored over two teeth (abutment teeth) and attached to pontics (artificial teeth) or dental implants. This placement corrects the gap created by one or more missing teeth, restoring your smile to its fullest.
A dental bridge is durable and will last you many years. Wear and tear are to be expected and may require maintenance and replacement over time.
Reasons for a Bridge:
- Fill space of missing teeth
- Maintain facial shape
- Prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position
- Restore chewing and speaking ability
- Restore your smile
- Upgrade from a removable partial denture to a permanent dental appliance
What does getting a crown or bridge involve?
The Step-by-Step CEREC® Procedure:
- Before treatment begins, we inform you about the benefits of CEREC®.
- After removing the decayed tissue or the defective amalgam filling, we create a 3D image of the tooth with the aid of the CEREC® camera.
- The restoration is designed on the monitor of the CEREC® acquisition unit.
- The CEREC® milling unit manufactures the dental crown or bridge out of a ceramic block.
- The milled restoration then is bonded directly to your tooth.
Patients travel from all over the Syracuse area to have their dental crown work done by Dr. Sayed. Our advanced equipment and facilities and experienced team are the perfect combinations to make your visit quick and easy and without extra hassle. Email us at [email protected].
Dental Implants
Dental Implants
Restoring your smile is very important to one’s quality of life. A missing tooth or even teeth can cause various complications to your life. For one, your smile is affected by great gaps in between your teeth due to a lost tooth. Also, eating can be difficult with missing teeth.
As time goes on with a missing tooth, your teeth will begin to move out of place into the open gap of your missing tooth. This migration process of your other teeth will cause many more problems. Implant dentistry focuses on replacing missing teeth and also providing a solution to removable dentures through dental implants.

Dental implants are titanium posts placed into your jaw bone to stabilize your denture, so you can chew food better without any denture adhesive or food getting trapped underneath the denture. One of the most popular options for dentures today is getting mini dental implants with denture anchors to them. Dental implants are very strong and durable and will last many years.
Reasons for Dental Implants:
- Replace one or more missing teeth
- Resolve joint pain or bite problems caused by teeth shifting
- Restore your smile
- Restore chewing, speech, and digestion
- Restore or improve facial tissues
- Support a bridge or denture, making them more secure and comfortable

Dentures

Dentures
The most common concern about dentures is whether or not they will look real or fake. It’s an important question because, traditionally, dentures have been too generic in the line of their teeth and their color. They were not customized to each person’s smile and facial shape.
Dr. Sayed, being a trained cosmetic dentist, has an eye for balance and harmony and is able to create and design dentures that complement your other facial features. They are designed to closely resemble your natural teeth' color so that no one knows you wearing them.
There are two types of dentures with varying reasons for each option:
- Complete Denture – This is a full set of teeth in the denture to replace the loss of all the teeth within the mouth.
- Partial Denture – When you lose two or more teeth together, a partial denture can replace the gap of those missing teeth.
What does getting dentures involve?
Step 1. As with any dental work, the process begins through a consultation in which our denture team will do a full exam of your mouth including digital X-rays. Once this has been done and it has been decided by you and our denturist, Dr. Sayed, our team will take impressions of your mouth and gums.
Step 2. Once the impressions have been taken, we will send them off to a laboratory that specializes in creating and designing custom fabricated dentures that fit into your mouth like they were your own. The dentures are made out of acrylic, giving the dentures a real look to them and also making them very durable to last for many years. The whole process from when we mail the impressions out to when we receive your new customized dentures takes anywhere from 7 to 10 days.
Step 3. Once we have received the dentures, we will bring you in for the final appointment. If there are any teeth that need to be removed, we will do so during this appointment. In some cases, if the patient is looking for a more secure fit for the dentures, we will place mini dental implants in to fasten the denture.
These dental implants will help with chewing and also avoid food being trapped underneath the denture. Once all of this is done, we will place your new dentures in your mouth and answer any and all questions you may have about them.

Root Canal
Root Canal Treatment
A root canal is needed when the nerve of a tooth becomes damaged through the decay of the tooth or a fracture of the tooth. To save the tooth, the living tissue that is infected is removed, and space is filled with a special medicated dental material that restores the tooth. Having a root canal is a choice and typically the best option to save a tooth that otherwise will die and then need to be removed.
Most patients believe that removing a tooth that has problems is the solution, but what is not realized is that extracting (pulling) a tooth will ultimately be more costly and cause significant problems for adjacent teeth.
A root canal treatment is very successful and typically lasts a lifetime. The best part is that a root canal treatment can be done in a single short visit.
Signs and Symptoms for a Possible Root Canal:
- An abscess (or pimple) on the gums
- Sensitivity to hot and cold
- Severe toothache pain
- Sometimes, no symptoms are present
- Swelling and/or tenderness
If you've put off getting a root canal for fear of pain or a lengthy procedure, we would like to talk to you about the advances in dental technology that have made such worries a thing of the past.

Thanks to new tools and more specialized anesthesia, you can be in and out of the dental chair in an hour or less with almost no pain during or after the procedure. Our Syracuse dentist, Dr. Sayed, has performed hundreds of root canals in his two decades of dental practice and is more than happy to answer any questions you have about the procedure.
Painful Root Canals Are a Thing of the Past:
- One short visit
- Just an hour of work
- Pain-free procedure
- Latest technology
- A happy new smile!
Sleep Apnea
Sleep Apnea
One-third of our lives are spent asleep. So, the quality of our sleep will make a real difference to the quality of our lives.
Sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) breaks up into two categories:
- Snoring
- Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Snoring and sleep apnea are conditions that affect over 40 percent of Americans with increasing percentages for those over the age of 50. Sleep apnea can be a life-threatening condition. People with obstructed sleep apnea (OSA) can suffer from lack of sleep, which can cause daytime sleepiness that leads to difficulty staying awake during daily activities such as meetings, regular conversation, or even driving.
OSA can result in high blood pressure, heart problems, stroke, job or traffic accidents, depression, and more. Fortunately, there are cost-effective dental solutions for both snoring and sleep apnea that a dentist can prescribe to their patients.
Here at Cicero Family Dental Care, Dr. Sayed offers free sleep apnea and snoring consultations. If you or your loved one would like to know more about these treatments, please Contact Dr. Sayed today or call our dental team at (315) 699-3305.
What are the most common symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea?
- Loud snoring
- Significant daytime sleepiness
- Poor memory
- Periodic stoppage of breathing
- Restless sleep
- Irritability
- Difficulty in concentrating
- Personality changes

What treatment options are there for snoring or sleep apnea?
- Silent Nite® Slide-Link – This is a custom-made device that prevents snoring. It is an affordable oral appliance that is flexible, thin, and comfortable for the patient. This dental device is designed to move the lower jaw into a forward position increasing the airway tube and reducing air velocity and soft tissue vibration. Because it is custom designed for our patients, the fit is excellent and comfortable.
- Thornton Adjustable Positioner® (TAP®) – TAP is an anti-snoring dental device that is a clinically-proven appliance solution for both snoring and sleep apnea. It is based on the same principles as CPR. This oral appliance is designed to open the airway and allow air to pass through the throat unrestricted. It is comfortable and custom-designed for your mouth.
- Myerson SleepBetter EMA® – The EMA (Elastic Mandibular Advancement) custom appliance is a removable intraoral appliance created for the noninvasive treatment of snoring and OSA. The EMA appliances promote a deeper more restful sleep by preventing snoring and relieving the symptoms of OSA.

Infection Control
Dr. Sayed and his team pay very strict attention to infection control in their facility and follow OSHA guidelines. The routine protocol for the operatories consists of spraying and wiping with an antibacterial solution of all surfaces that come in contact with the staff and a patient before each patient visit and use of disposable barriers on all handles and points of frequent contact, which are changed between patients.
Handwashing stations are equipped with hand sanitizers. Personal protective gear worn by the staff is either disposable or changed every day.
